Simply AMAZING!!

I recently discovered one of the most amazing musical creations ever. However, to fully explain it, I guess I should go back to a few weeks ago...
Whenever there's something happening in my life for an extended amount of time, I like to find new music to define the time. So whenever I hear a song, I can usually relate it back to a certain time in my life. For example, Jason Mraz's album, Waiting for my Rocket to Come, would have been in my car right after I got my license. So anyway, I'd been home for a couple weeks and decided I would make a trip to Best Buy to get a new CD. I had listened to Coldplay's Viva La Vida album when it came out, but I never bought it because I was working at camp and it didn't make sense to buy a CD when I would rarely have time to listen to it. But since I clearly had the time to listen to it during break, I went ahead and bought it. I've always liked Coldplay, but this album is phenomenal. I don't know how many times I've played it the few weeks I've had it. I don't think there's a song on the CD that I don't like, but I definitely have some favorites, one of which is Life in Technicolor. There are no words, but the music and the beat are so irresistable that it was hard for me not to bust out dancing alone in my car (and sometimes, I did). I thought that this song would be awe-inspiring, if only it had lyrics. Well last night I was driving and looking for some good music on my XM radio. When I got to one station, I heard Life in Technicolor. I was SO excited that it was on the radio and I started humming along with the music. But then, out of nowhere, Chris Martin (coldplay's lead singer) comes in and starts singing. WHAT??? It was amazing. The second I got home I searched the song on iTunes and found an EP that Coldplay released soon after Viva La Vida came out. I was just going to buy the song, but the rest of the songs were interesting enough that I just bought the entire EP. And I'm so glad I did, because when I listened to it this morning, I came across AMAZINGNESS. The song Lost is already really really good. But in this version, it gets even better. You go through the first two verse/chorus progressions and are really into the song. And although I felt like the song couldn't get any better, out of nowhere Jay-Z comes in and starts rapping! Jay-Z and Coldplay. In the same song. Who could have imagined that? In order to not appreciate this song, one would have to have extremely sheltered musical taste. So I highly recommend that everyone listen to this song and be equally amazed!

Breathe In For Luck...

Oh man. I am officially done with 3/8 of my college career. This time last year I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. This time next year, I'll be packing up to study abroad in France or Belgium. It's crazy how quickly time goes by. So I'm not going to think about it this break. I'm going to enjoy the holidays. I'm going to act like a child. Because honestly, I don't want to grow up just yet. And for starters, I'm going to do this iTunes survey, because I love them and I don't have anything to do and it is a wonderful feeling.

Directions

6) Tonight will be...
Knights of the Island Counter, by Dave Melillo

Faust, Midas, and Myself, by Switchfoot
Pretty applicable, seeing as the first line is "This one's about a dream I had last night..."
8) The last stranger I talked to was...
Artistic License, by The Starting Line
He did have a license, and he was pretty artistic with his dancing. He was also a door to door salesman selling "energy," and I'm pretty sure he was on crack.
9) The happiest day of my life will be...
Antonia, by Motion City Soundtrack
Haha, this makes no sense
10) I like my hobbies because...

the last CD I listened to was the newest Coldplay the CD. And actually, I like how all the songs connected to each other and flowed so well
29) The last movie I watched was...
The Lights and Buzz, by Jack's Mannequin
"And this life has been no holiday, a complicated situation." That would actually describe the plot of Nothing Like the Holidays pretty well. But I still didn't enjoy the movie.
30) When I accomplish something I feel...
The Shade of Poison Trees, by Dashboard Confessional
True. I relax in the "shade," but usually there's something else I need to accomplish next, so it's not real relaxation.
31) When I am cold I feel...
Last Straw, by Jack's Mannequin
pretty true
32) When I am warm I feel...
White Daisy Passing, by Rocky Votolato

Home Sweet Home

It is so nice to be home. I'm not done with finals yet - I still have to do my Media Interpretation & Criticism take home final - but just being home is wonderful. This past week has been so crazy that the only reason I know today is Sunday is because this morning Wes woke me up and invited me to watch church online with him and my mom (my mom can't really leave the house right now due to her recent knee surgery). Tuesday was the last day of class at good ole Trinity University and it was also the day that Kelli arrived. My room mate Becca and I really needed to get rid of leftover money on our meal plans, so we celebrated the end of class with a fajita party. It was pretty great until the next morning, when we realized that we had to clean up all the mexican food. YES. After the excitement died down Kelli and I went on an adventure driving around San Antonio with Andrew. It was a little lacking in adventure, except for the few minutes when it SNOWED!!!!!!! It didn't last very long but it was so exciting to see this happen. Wednesday was a blur of shopping and extreme laziness. Thursday was spent almost entirely in the library and taking finals, except for the "study break" that occured when someone broke into Kelli's car. Friday was more shopping and getting a new window put in Kelli's car. Yesterday, I studied all morning long then went up to take my Early Modern Europe final. But when I was crossing the street, I tripped over one of my flip flops and wiped out in the road. My hand got cut pretty badly and wouldn't stop bleeding in time for the final. I hope my professor doesn't mind the blood underlining a lot of my writing... after that horror final was done, I peaced out and drove as fast as I could to Midland. And here I am. My mom's doing a lot better than I was expecting. She is pretty hyper during the day and a little loopy from the painkillers (she got really excited today about her surgery and made a powerpoint about ALL her experiences). I'm not gonna lie, I will probably get frustrated helping to take care of her. But for right now, I'm just glad she's okay. More than anything, I'm glad to be home and slow down for awhile.

Oh Christmastime...

It's nice to be done with papers for the semester. All I have left are finals and then I get to go HOME! But even though it will be an excellent break, it also means that I'm getting closer and closer to being done with college, and that's scary. Next semester, I'll be officially declaring my major (international politics/pre-law)? I'm only 19... how am I supposed to know what I want to do with the rest of my life? And why should anyone have to worry about it during such an amazing time of the year? I love Christmastime. Everyone's happy, everything's decorated, and all the problems that we all have to face sooner or later disappear for a while. What more could you ask for? I mean yeah, the economy's not doing too well and there's still fighting going on, but no one said it was a perfect world. Nonetheless, I think there's a lot to be thankful for. So before the stress of finals hits me, I'm going to sit back, relax, and enjoy the end of what has been a crazy, at times hectic, amazing year of experience.

Je Ne Sais Pas Which Language to Think in Anymore!

For those of you who do not speak French...je ne sais pas means I don't know. And in the next two weeks, I'm guessing that I will be saying "je ne sais pas" a lot - in French and English. I needed Thanksgiving to go home for a while and relax. But seriously, the break was such a tease. I managed to ignore all of my schoolwork from home and now I'm faced with 2 papers due this week, along with 5 tests next week. Procrastination has become my best friend. On the plus side, I did finally type out a whole page and a half of my first paper... due Thursday...only six pages to go! I shouldn't complain - I've known about the papers for over a month, but still. I've been back in school for two days and I already need a break. Ugh... back to papers.

So This One Time I Started a Blog...

I've never been good at finishing what I start. My bookshelf at home is full of adorable diaries. Each of them have about 3 pages of entries, and the rest is empty. But I want a place to unload my thoughts. And hopefully, this will be it. I don't really know what to say, other than - let's see where this goes.
